I got these:

at Hamilton Building Supply
Burlington Yard, 723 Walkers Line, Burlington, Ontario, (905) 639-3888, (905) 643-1271, (905) 333-4757 (fax)

The ones I got are 2" in diameter. Normally they're used for holding the EPS foam to the wall prior to stucko.

Here's some similar stuff from elsewhere:

Anyway, you cut four spacer blocks out of 2x4's until they're 3.5" x 3.5" x 1.5", and screw them to whatever to make an air gap behind the rigid mineral wool (fiberglass, rockwool, whatever). I placed mine 12" from the top and bottom, and 6" from the sides, so that each piece is supporting a 2'x1' section of the 2'x4' rigid rockwool panel.

Then you put your rockwool in place (normally after wrapping it in fabric like a christmas present, and using 3M Super 77 to glue it at the back), and push #8 x 2" robertson screws with the plastic washer into the rockwool at the same 12" from the top and 6" from the side so that they screw into the 2x4 spacer blocks I created.

And congradulations you're done.

It works on the ceiling too.
